7th graders Go Green from Mrs. Beatrice Reiser

Description

This VoiceThread is an excellent example because it is interactive and promotes environmental issues. Helping students to learn about saving energy is always a good thing!

Benefits to students

  • VoiceThread notes: Students learn to use technology.
  • Students learn ways to discuss learning outside of school with family and friends.
  • Students respond to questions and interact in new ways.
  • Students think critically about what they have learned in the past.

Process/Assignment

My goal was to teach students to save energy at home. Students learned to: Create the VoiceThread through a PDP within the district, Find photographs online, Research online to find web sites on topic.

I had students submit web sites as sources. I then added class to comment on VoiceThread, reserved Mac Lab / Laptops, and created a worksheet for students notes.

Challenges or setbacks

The easiest part of the project was having students interact and research a room to go green from the information on the VoiceThread. The hardest part was creating the VoiceThread by finding good information for students to see and hear.

Tips

Make sure you plan way ahead of time. You need to practice using the VoiceThread. The longest part of the process is entering your classes and inviting them into your VoiceThread by period.
